Privacy and cookies
What we collect when you use this site or get in touch, and what we do with it. Last updated October 2026.
Who we are
russle is a web design, ecommerce and SEO studio in Cheshire, UK, run by Henry Guest trading as russle. We decide how the information on this page is used, which makes us the data controller. For anything about your data, email henry@russle.co.uk.
What we collect
- Forms. When you send the contact form, the project intake or a free site review request, we get what you typed: your name, email address, your company and website if you give them, and your message or project details.
- Blog sign-ups. Your email address, so we can send you new posts.
- Calls. If you book a call, the booking is taken by Cal.com, which asks for your name, email address and a time.
- How the site is used. Covered under cookies and analytics below.
Cookies and analytics
The site works without cookies. By default it keeps one note in your browser: the answer you gave on the cookie banner.
If you say yes on the banner, we use four tools to see how the site is doing:
- Vercel Web Analytics. Counts page visits. It uses no cookies.
- Google Analytics. Which pages are viewed and where visitors come from.
- PostHog. Which pages are viewed and what gets clicked, with replays of visits so we can see where a page is confusing. Anything you type is hidden in a replay, and the data is kept in the EU.
- Meta Pixel. Lets us measure our advertising on Facebook and Instagram, and show it to people who have visited the site.
If you say no, none of them set cookies or follow your visit, and PostHog and Vercel Web Analytics never load. The Google and Meta scripts still load, switched off. Google Analytics receives an anonymous signal that a page was viewed, which it uses for totals, without cookies and without identifying you.
If we sent you a link to an audit we prepared for your business and you have said yes to cookies, we can see that the audit was opened.
You can change your answer at any time:
Why we use it
- To reply to you and to quote for work: our legitimate interest in answering an enquiry you sent us.
- To send blog posts: your consent, given when you signed up.
- To measure how the site is used: your consent, given on the cookie banner.
- To keep records of work we have done: our legal obligations for tax and accounting.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. It goes only to the services that run this site for us: Vercel (hosting), Neon (the database that holds blog sign-ups), Resend (sending email), Cal.com (call bookings), and Google, Meta and PostHog for the analytics described above. Some of these are based in the United States. Where data leaves the UK it is protected by UK-approved safeguards such as the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept while we are talking and afterwards as a record of the conversation. Blog sign-ups are kept until you ask us to stop. Records of paid work are kept for six years to meet tax rules. PostHog keeps replays for 30 days and other analytics for a year.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email henry@russle.co.uk and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
